Down In Fraggle Rock!!!
64OMG...It's Released!!!
I don't care who knows...I freaking love the show Fraggle Rock! Make fun of me if you like...I am proud of my Fraggle Rock fan status. It has been 20 years since I watched the show on HBO and I miss it!
I'm 35 now - yes, do the math I was 15, not 5, when I watched the show...and I still loved it!
The complete series (1983-1987) was released on DVD last month and I am asking for it for Christmas. Now you can experience the full adventures of Gobo, Mokey, Red, Wembley and Boober all on DVD whenever you'd like.
The Music of Fraggle Rock
Gotta Love The Fraggles
The show, created by Jim Henson, was about little creatures called Fraggles (among others) that lived in an underground world just below our known world. The connection between their world and ours (which they call "Outer Space") is a small hole in the wall of the workshop of a man by the name of Doc and his dog Sprocket.
Great Music
The great songs are one of the many things I like about this series. The music was above par considering the simplified crap on most children's shows.
(At right are a couple of examples of the music of Fraggle Rock.)
I Will Get This...Oh Yes, I Will
If I do not get this series for Christmas, I will buy the dang thing myself! I have gone without the Fraggles for way too long and I cannot go any longer! I must have it, without delay. I might even go out before Christmas and buy it for myself.
Trivia
Fraggle Rock was the first original series of HBO's.
The working title was "The Woozle Show."
Gobo and Travelling Matt (two characters of the show) are film industry inside jokes. They are words that describe techniques to super-impose images over a different background.
Update
I just learned that a Fraggle Rock movie is in the works. Cool!!!
Also...I did not receive Fraggle Rock at Christmas. I guess I will have to fork out my own money for this box set. :-(

I remember being jealous of kids with HBO and who got to watch Fraggle Rock.
Fraggle Rock = Teh Super Happy Time
I don't know anything about Fraggle Rock, but I like how you wrote this. :) I hope you get the series (without delay!) on Christmas morning! :)
I was a pretty swingin' kinda gal in the 80's with my big ole hair, Flash Dance sweatband, and leg warmers...no time for Fraggle things. ;) Plus, I grew up watching Captain Kangaroo. Now that was tv...it was black and white tv, but that was real tv. Mr. Greenjeans was a little creepy though. ;) lol!
I remember Capt Kangaroo!
The rabbit roked!!! O ahd O loved Moose and when the balls all came down on rabbits head!
LOL Lady! I forgot about the rabbit and the moose! Glad to know someone else remembers the captain. :D
I agree the show was great. I'm 29 so I guess I was at least a little younger watching it. I got a couple of the DVDs for my kids and I to watch together. I'm a huge fan of Jim Henson his work made a huge impact on mine and many other people's lives. I love the Muppet Show. Time Life had the whole set of like 16 DVDs on a huge sale and I found a discount code. I got the whole thing for under $50 I was so excited and couldn't believe it when they all arrived. My kids and I loved watching them too. Thanks for telling me about the movie I will definitely keep an eye out for it.
OMG_ I love the Fraggles too! I remember it on HBO as a kid and its funny because my two kids love it too. Not so much my older one now but my 5 year old does still. I have a bunch of the tapes on VHS and DVD too. That is too funny! What a small world. =)
I was a teenage Fraggle watcher too - it was a great show. Interesting concept, good story lines, well developed characters - and so much less manic than the kids shows they have out today.
Oh geez, I sound old ....
I LOVE Fraggle Rock!! Emmitt Otter's Jug Band Christmas, too!!!! Now I need to go buy Fraggle Rock!! My daughter has a Red doll, and I have been tempted on several occasions, to swipe it from her in her sleep. JK!!
It was a great show!
Sadly, I can't do that. I avoid owning a credit card at all costs. I have to do everything the old fashioned way. I actually have to get in a car, drive to the store, and pay for things with cash. I know, not very environmentally friendly, and way outdated, but credit cards are the devil, and even worse than that, I once sold my soul to this devil, and am now paying the price..literally.
Hey there--- I am 28 today! Sorry to get back to you so late! Fraggle rock came out in 1983 on HBO till 1987 So I watched it from the age of 2 to 6. but I have to admit... I still watch it with my boys!!! P.S. I LOVE THE DOOZERS TOO!
Thank you !!! You are so sweet!
I used to watch Fraggle Rock with a friend's kid. JJ, you are probably about the same age as that little girl! I love the show and I was in my early 20's when I watched it. Tell me when does the movie come out?!

I loved it tooo!!!! I wish it was still on. Call me silly, but some of the programs that are out therefor children are much better then the programs for adults!!! Bob the Builder was an ofshoot from Fraggle Rock! I also remember The Electric Company! They really need to bring those back to TV.
